Contact Us Links Our Lifeline | Why Is It?Why is it that we pay more attention to things we overhear than to things we hear? This past week I overheard on the Internet (by reading of course) the following statement "The Christian life is a supernatural experience". Now, that is not so alarming unless you are not into the forever presence of the Holy Spirit in you. It is alarming to those of the "Try Harder Church". You know who you are, those who must always "try harder" to live up to God's standard as defined by some human being (including yourself). When you fail to meet those standards, the only solution you have is to "try harder". I would expect that you have never turned to the "helper" that Jesus sent to us, that being the Holy Spirit. For us who have tried harder and failed, do we blame ourselves or rather allow the devil to condemn us (after all he is the great accuser)? Why not have a supernatural experience and allow the Holy Spirit to take control of the short comings in our lives, allow for God's Grace to work, be at one with our God. I have now quit trying so hard, and I try to be more submissive to the Holy Spirit. For those who may have the mind set that the Holy Spirit speaks only through the written word, then study the word as though you had never read it before. It is a challenge to study your Bible without hearing the voices of the past that are telling you what you should understand from the passages you are reading. Pray that you will understand the mind of God in the words that you are reading. You already know that you can not live a "Christian life" without Christ, and that Christ is a Spirit, and that to try to live a Christian life in the physical being means that you have not even started on your Christian journey. If your religious/church life is not spiritual, then you are at the wrong place, you are at the physical place, be born into that spiritual life. When the life you live is not in the natural man then it is in the "supernatural man", therefore, the real Christian life can only be a supernatural experience.
